Brickell: Living Your Best Life at Miami’s Epicenter

By Amy Lindenmoyer | January 11, 2019

Brickell has come along way from its 1994 appearance in True Lies with Arnold Schwarzeneggerand Jamie Lee Curtis. Although the iconic illuminated elevators at 1221 Brickell still remain, that’s one of the only things that’s unchanged. Brickell is Miami’s Financial District with banks and consultants on every corner. However, over the course of the past 15 years, a plethora of high-end, luxury condominiums have been erected in the wake of economical devastation across Latin America.

Those desperate to park their money or look for a new home flocked to Brickell and so began the first condo boom. Brickell seemed to have just as many cranes as financial institutes with majority of residences coming online around 2008. With many owners being investors, this allowed young business professionals the opportunity to rent in a centralized location with easy access to I-95, US-1, and Miami Beach. Mary Brickell Village became the main watering hole for locals with enticing happy hours.

Post-recession, a second condo boom emerged that seemed bigger than the previous with a majority of building coming online in 2016. With this boom came luxury hotels like East hotel, fabulous restaurants like Fi’lia, and South Beach nightlife gurus opening up venues across the city like Marion. People from New York and the Northeast flocked to Brickell to trade crippling taxes for endless sunshine and shoebox apartments for luxurious corner units overlooking Biscayne Bay with discretionary income to spare.

Luxury and chic are two of the best adjectives to describe Brickell. Residents can hop in the elevator to catch some rays at the pool, pick up a package with the concierge staff, and walk out the lobby to grab a latte at Dr. Smood in Brickell City Centre then head over to Lululemon for new outfit before heading over to the 3-story Equinox for a sweat-inducing workout. Next, head over to B Bistro + Bakery for a mimosa and cruffin with the crew. Enjoy a phenomenal dinner and dance the night away at Komodo. Just another day in the life as a Brickellite!
